We asked our SWOP Newtown regulars a few style questions.

Sarah Jessica Carpark, 23

Describe your outfit in a couple of words.
Airline CEO… Weimar Republic expressionism… just global political instability!

What are you wearing today?
I got my pants right here at SWOP all of four days ago. They’re this blue and white check with flames all over them which perfectly matches the police state, so in my head they’re my ACAB pants. My jacket was a SWOP reject that my friend brought in a couple days ago-- it reminds me of an over the top 1970s German airway of something. I got the TNs from a friend and the shirt is also from a friend.

What’s inspiring your style right now?
I’m really into the idea of having non-possessive relationships with clothing. I think it’s the queerest thing to have your wardrobe at fifteen different people’s houses and have everyone wearing your things. I like that in my friendship circles there’s an ecology of clothing, different people have certain pieces and you’re all constantly in dialogue. You’ll wear an outfit and it will inspire someone to take that shirt and riff.

What are you hoping to find at SWOP today?
More Millenary! Hats are fantastic, more millenary in Australian fashion please!

What are you wearing today?
Everything I’m wearing today is from SWOP; I’m wearing a 70s cotton blouse covered with cats, 70s deadstock naval issue jeans and some Roc Australia cork platforms. Ella is wearing her rainbow pride collar from the Cat Protection Society. She is very small so she does sometimes have to wear cat collars.

What’s inspiring your style right now?
The great thing about thrifting is there’s different inspiration on every single rack.

What are you hoping to find at SWOP today?
A nice cardigan that I can wrap Ella up in. I’m also constantly on the hunt for 1930s dresses, so I’m hoping to find something bias cut, like a little silk slip.
