How it works
1. Book a drop-off
Sign up or sign in to the SWOP dashboard and book a time to come into a store. We'd love to see what you've got. Find your nearest SWOP store.
Alternatively, you can book through the chatbot at the bottom right corner of our website.
2. Prepare your items
Ensure your items are freshly washed and folded. Pack them into a single bag, with a maximum of 40 items. Read our helpful selling tips to learn more about styles, sizes, garment condition and how our buyers curate and arrive at an offer.
3. Drop off items
Once in store, you'll be prompted to check in and take a photo of your bag. Leave your bag with our buyers to review.
4. Receive your estimated review time
Our buyers will confirm your estimated review time at drop-off. Bags with more than 20 items may take longer. Bags with luxury and designer items undergo SWOP's strict authentication process. Please allow additional processing time for these items.
5. Review your offer
Once we have reviewed your items, you'll receive a notification via SMS or email. Follow the link to your SWOP dashboard to review the offer and see any comments from the buyers.
6. Decide between credit, cash, keep, donate
Via the SWOP dashboard, select how you'd like to proceed with the offer. You can receive 50% SWOP credit or 30% cash, on the resale value of your item. Items over $249 resale value will receive 40% cash.
You will always have the option to decline the offer and keep your items. For items we don't make an offer on, you may select to keep them or donate them to SWOP's not-for-profit Prise Op Shop.
7. Get paid
If you choose cash, we'll pay via bank transfer or physical cash in-store.
If you choose SWOP credit, we'll apply the credit to your customer account. This can be used at any SWOP store or online.
8. Collect remaining items
Once your offer is sent, we'll hold on to the remainder of your bag until the end of that day. Please head back in-store to collect items you'd like to keep. Any uncollected items will be donated to our not-for-profit charity shop, Prise Op Shop.

Selling guide
What we look for
Our experienced team of buyers curate the SWOP stores based on what they’re forecasting as the next in fashion. They are trained professionals who understand what will sell well and what will be popular for each store and local community.
We are looking for clothes, shoes and accessories that are: - In-season - Popular today (on trend in the last 12 months) - Popular yesterday (1970s – 2000s) - Popular tomorrow (upcoming trends) - All genders - All sizes
To see what our buyers are currently loving, follow us on Instagram or visit in-store to chat with the team.
What we don’t accept
We cannot accept items that are: - Not in-season - Not on-trend - Fake designer - Fast fashion or low-quality brands - Stained - Damaged - Odoured - Underwear - Bridal and formal wear - Activewear
Acceptable bag size
We accept one bag per quote that is: - Maximum of 40 items - Maximum weight of 10kg - No larger than 50 x 50 cm
Preparing your items
- Wash and fold your clothing - Repair any missing buttons or minor signs of wear - Remove stains - Remove hangers and shoe boxes - Wipe down shoes and accessories
Once they’re ready to bring in, pack all items neatly into a bag or box so they look their best.
How we price the items
SWOP uses a transparent and formulaic system to arrive at the price of an item.
The amount you are offered is based on your item’s resale value — that is, the price we will list the item for in store.
We use a broad range of internal and external information to land on an item’s resale price. Internal factors include: - The price of similar items sold at SWOP - How often we sell these items - Current inventory levels for similar items
External factors include: - Prices listed for similar items on other websites and marketplaces - Availability of similar items on other websites
Other factors we consider are: - The condition of the item and any signs of wear - Seasonality - Demand patterns for that brand
SWOP’s trained team of buyers weigh up each of these data points to arrive at an accurate resale price. Every item’s resale price will require the sign off of at least two or more buyers.
Our buyers are meticulous in their research and many have been buying for SWOP for 5+ years.
Garment condition criteria
We use the following four categories to help determine the resale value of your items: - Pristine: item appears unworn, in brand new or near-new second hand condition. - Excellent: item shows only minimal signs of wear, with no markings or imperfections. - Good: item has been well maintained but shows moderate signs of wear, such as creasing or slight fading. - As is: item shows visible signs of wear and may require repair.
How much you’ll be paid
- If you select SWOP credit, you will receive 50% of the resale price. - If you select cash, you will be paid 30% of the resale price. - For items with a resale value above $249, you will be paid a higher cash rate of 40% of the resale price.
Why you might not receive an offer
Please don’t take it personally if SWOP doesn’t make an offer on your items. We have strict criteria and make decisions based on: - what’s in season - what’s needed in store - what we know will sell well. Our buyers are available to provide feedback on your offer if you have any questions.
Reasons for not receiving an offer might include: - garments being for the wrong season - currently overstocked in store - the need for a stain to be removed or button mended. Our team will let you know if any items are worth bringing back at a later date.
Donating your items
If you don’t receive an offer on your items, you may like to consider donating them to SWOP’s not-for-profit Prise Op Shop. Here your pieces can find a new home and all profits from the sale will go to charities we care deeply about.

I can’t make it to a store, can I still sell?
At the moment, we require all items to be brought into one of our stores for assessment by our buyers. We have stores in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, all open 10am – 6pm daily. We will be introducing a send-in service very soon, watch this space.
Are the authentication staff experienced?
Absolutely. Our buyers receive training and extensive experience in fashion authentication. Many have been with SWOP for more than five years, and continually undergo further training to remain current with authentication techniques. For luxury and designer items, we have a strict authentication process that requires sign-off from multiple experienced buyers.
